Albatroz Engenharia attended the 4th Agricultural Innovation Fair of Fundão and recollections are close to the ones recorded on the 3rd edition https://lnkd.in/dvV99G2A, last October.
The relevant innovation is the visitor’s engagement with the DIY “hands on” at our booth. Visitors were invited to experiment flying a small unmanned aerial system (UAS, also known as “drone”), to observe 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦 samples of the typical Portuguese forest and look for small wood spheres representing 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗽 𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 – a 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 issue in the Portuguese villages north of the Tagus. From small children to adults, from engineers to artisans, from teachers to farmers, looking at a tree – albeit a small one – from a new point of view opened a window of questions and perspectives about the forest: What if…? Can we harvest from the air? Can we tell how healthy a tree is from the air? Can we inoculate some medicine from the top of the trees? Are bird nests disturbed? One child said: “Now I see just like birds do.”
Many visitors are just curious and feel satisfied with the pilot experience. For those who want to know more, the experience of flight triggers the questions, focusing the conversation on their needs and interests, making communication more pleasant, sincere and effective, to the point that some advised us on forestry topics we should learn more about.
We know this since the first Albatroz Engenharia exhibition at CIGRÉ Paris 2006, the largest world exhibition for electrical transmission grids: we had a 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 LiDAR hanging from a sliding platform mounted on an aluminium frame to 𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦 a helicopter flying over 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭 trees and 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭 powerlines. Today, we can already operate a 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 UAS with 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 video flying over with 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 small trees. Maybe in the near future we’ll be able to fly a 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 UAS with a 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 LiDAR surveying 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 trees.
If your business lets you communicate in three or four dimensions at the grasp of your audience, we encourage you to take advantage of it and go beyond the two dimensions of screens, roll-ups and fliers. It’s for the benefit of everyone involved.
